TOPPING E70 DAC & L70 AMP is up!

by C G on Oct 25, 2022

TOPPING has been busy again with another release of compact high-performance desktop DAC and AMP. This time they're focusing on the successor of the E and L series, launching the new E70 and L70 DAC AMP stack! Different from their budget-oriented brothers, E70 & L70 aim at midrange-priced. Both the DAC and the headphone amplifier can be bought separately at $349 respectively now! Let's see what's new on both!

Despite looking much like its smaller brother, the 30's stack and 50's stack, E70&L70 give totally different internal configurations! First, Let's have closer look at E70 DAC, it's equipped with the flagship D/A chip ES9028PRO, which has a 32Bit 8-channel HyperStream II architecture, and every 4-channel are connected in parallel as one channel, achieving high performance and high sound quality.

E70 adopts a brand-new I/V conversion, which is designed for better-quality audio reproduction. The unique circuit design provided lower distortion, and lower noise while occupying less space. The new circuit is pushed close to the limit of physics, to squeeze out the last bit of performance of the DAC chip. E70 also supports Hi-Res Audio Wireless and L DAC. Combined with the newest QCC5125 chipset to support LDACIAAC/SBC/aptX/aptX LL/aptX HD/aptX Adaptive protocol by Bluetooth 5.1.

Besides, E70 has extremely high measurements, the THD+N is lower than 0.00006% for catching every subtle detail in music, and thanks to the latest XMOS XU316, it supports DSD512 & PCM 768kHz, which makes it more stable and reliable.

On the other hand, as the best partner, L70 matches E70 perfectly whatever of its design languages or styles. L70 headphone amplifier adopts the fully balanced NFCA circuit, which is the same as the one adopted by A90. Voltage current hybrid feedback architecture along with UHGF (Ultra High Gain Feedback) technology provides excellent DC and AC performance, ultra-low THD+N, and absurdly high dynamic range of 146dB. Even more, high output current drive capability, ultra-low output impedance and the ultra-low noise of 0.3uV which is miles ahead of the competition provides sufficient guarantee for driving headphones with various characteristics, so that high-fidelity music can be vividly performed on different headphones.

L70 is compatible with common headphone jacks, such as 4-pin XLR, 4.4mm BAL, 6.35mm, and 3.5mm SE, the built-in fully balanced amplifier circuit can not only fit well with balanced headphones, but also have perfect performance with single-ended headphones. In addition, It has two gain settings and features ultra-low noise, which over a wider range of needs meets all kinds of headphones with different sensitivities and impedance.

L70 uses an R2R volume control composed of relays and resistor networks, brings the advantages of precise control, longevity, complete channel balanced and remote control. It also offers volume memorize. It can be adapted more personalized when connecting different earphones and other devices, which greatly improves the convenience of use.

Ground loop noise may be encountered when multiple devices are used in combination. The GND/LIFT switch has been set to cancel this problem.

In addition to product performance, TOPPING also pays attention to the convenience of product aesthetic design and control. Hearing, vision and touch have been unified on the E70/L70.
