MOONDROP NEXT-GEN: MOONRIVER 3 Portable DAC/AMP

MOONDROP unveils the latest evolution of its acclaimed portable DAC/amp line with the MOONRIVER 3. Building upon the solid foundations laid by its predecessors, particularly the well-received MOONRIVER 2 Ti known for its compact design and clean amplification, this third-generation iteration aims to push the boundaries of performance and versatility further. The MOONRIVER 3 features dual flagship decoding chips, the CS43198 from Cirrus Logic, along with an amplification circuit that includes two independent high-power dual-channel amplifier chips. It integrates a next-generation Hi-Fi USB digital interface and five independent power supply chips, which provide dedicated power to each IC. This configuration results in a complete Hi-Fi audio circuit architecture characterized by high power, ultra-low distortion, low noise, and rich timbre.

This model has a brand-new USB audio chip. It is compatible with most personal computers, smartphones, and laptops, and can decode PCM audio up to 32-bit/384kHz, and DSD256.

MOONRIVER 3 is designed with a physical volume control knob that can be pressed to pause playback, providing precise tactile feedback when turned. It allows for nearly lossless 100-step volume control through a digital encoder, effectively separating the device’s volume control from the mobile phone. This design enhances performance and offers a smooth volume adjustment experience.

It also includes a physical switch that enables users to turn DSP tuning on or off with a single button. The switch also provides a clear indication of the current state of use.

An additional USB-C interface is located on the side of the MOONRIVER 3 for fast charging and power supply using Power Delivery (PD). Along with the specially customized DDHiFi USB-C cable, this interface can simultaneously supply power to mobile phones, tablets, and other devices while playing music, supporting charging power up to approximately 60W. This feature resolves the issue of being unable to charge a mobile phone while listening to music via the USB-C port, while also providing ample power for the amplifier circuit.

It comes with 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced ports for wider compatibility.
