MOONDROP SSP IEMs LATEST REVIEWs

MOONDROP, a China-based audio manufacturing brand, has garnered much attention lately within the IEMs community. MOONDROP is famous for their exquisite and beautiful earphones and their brilliant tuning.

Couple months back MOONDROP released its budget pair of in-ear monitors, the MOONDROP SSR (Super Starship Reference). This beautiful pair grabbed a lot of attention for its unique looks, smooth sound signature, and an attractive price tag. 

SSP(Super Spaceship Pulse)

Now MOONDROP is going to release SSR‘s sister model, SSP (Super Spaceship Pulse). SSP will be priced at $39.99, same price as the SSR, it is likely to be available on 11.11.

As a sister model of SSR and another new product of MOONDROP budget fi product line, SSP takes up the excellent base of the SSR, comfortable wearing,equipping with a single (Beryllium-coated dome) dynamic driver for uncoloured sound and providing very good isolation.

While SSR is tuned based on VDSF target response, this sister model SSP is more energetic, introducing a moderate bass boost to get warmer, more energetic signature, more mainstream tuning. MOONDROP never cease to amaze us, we are all looking forward to this excellent budget IEMs.

The Moondrop SSP is sonically very close to the Moondrop SSR. The frequency response above 900 Hz is identical between the models. Below 900 Hz, the frequency responses deviate by up to 5 dB. The biggest difference is therefore the bass response and the Moondrop SSP’s low end is actually one of its best traits. The low-end is fast, tight, not overdone, and very appealing to my ears. It remains as articulate as in the Moondrop SSR however there is just more of it.
