Back to January, xDuoo released two budget tube Headphone amps for their brand-new product series "MT". The MT-601 has one 6N11 tube and producing 200mW of power while the MT-602 adopts two 6N11 tubes with 1.3 watts of power and both of them can also work as a pre amp. xDuoo has updated their product range with their latest lineup announcements, the latest hybrid amplifier MT604 featuring four 6J1 tubes, has a price tag with US$ 169.00.
xDuoo MT series has a new turn design compared to their other tube amplifier lineup “TA” series which includes powerful TA-30, TA-20 and TA-10. MT series products have smaller size, packed in a sand blast textured panel and hard aluminum alloy shell. And the red volume knob also makes sure the look feels fresh and modern. MT-604 and MT602 shares the same spatial design concept but MT-604 looks more symmetrical in appearance.
xDuoo MT-604 is a hybrid amplifier. This means that tubes are used in a pre-amp stage while class A transistors provide power and grunt in the power-amp section. This is a scheme many products revert to trying to capture the soft and warm presentation of tubes, but without losing the power and control of a solid-state solution. Adopting transistors for class A buffer, with output power up to 2000mW, MT604 is suitable for different headphones ranging from 16 to 600 Ohms.
MT604 is also a balanced tube headphone amplifier, you could find a pair of XLR balance input from the back panel. The front panel hosts a 4.4mm balanced input, 4-pin XLR and 4. 4mm balanced output, rich and diverse interfaces, suitable for many kinds of balanced headphones. At the same time , this unit is designed to adjust the volume of the left and right channels separately to reject the sound bias problem.
With built-in relay for mute circuit when turn on amplifier to avoid POP noise and make sure the tube could work at its best condition. For coupling capacitance, it uses Nichicon capacitance as the main filter capacitance and the special enthusiast Japanese Rubycon capacitance as the coupling capacitance, aiming to deliver smooth, sweet and warm sound.
